Conference 2008 Workshop 5 - Monday 11.30-12.30

It is clear to Kate that collaboration within the sector - whilst always maintaining commercial confidentiality - is in the customer's best interests. It will also help the sector to meet its regulatory obligations and move it towards harmonisation of financial services throughout the EU as legislation requires.

Best in class in financial services enterprises are working towards an integrated approach to information management, involving virtual teams and close collaboration between business operations, risk management units, IT, legal and regulatory functions - always with a keen focus on changing customer requirements.

Kate believes that people should always come first in any information management regime and has a particular interest in privacy and protection of personal information. The information held by the financial sector is clearly a target for fraud, including ID theft. With rocketing levels of financial crime worldwide, robust information management practices have never been more important.
