Freedom Of Information Update
Ibrahim Hasan will examine the latest cases under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
He will compare the decisions of the two Information Commissioners, the Information Tribunal and the Court of Session with a view to identifying differences and similarities in applying the legislation. Ibrahim will also discuss decisions on common requests for information e.g about dead peoples' records, salaries and expenses, policy formulation, contracts and tenders etc.
Hopefully this will stimulate a discussion amongst the delegates about which Act has achieved the objectives of openness and transparency in the public sector.
