Supporting transformation through Records Management
Lancashire County Council procured R/KVY, Open Text's Electronic Documents and Records Management System in July 2006. Rachel Moffat, the County Records Manager, will outline Lancashire's approach to implementing the system within the Records Management Service, enabling the authority to manage both physical and electronic records in a single coherent and comprehensive way. Users are benefiting from ease of use and the speed and accuracy of powerful searching. The authority is benefiting from standardisation of how information is managed, staff time saved, reliable records and compliance with legislation. The key drivers and benefits of the system will be explored as well as some lessons learnt which might help others consider how they can maximise benefits within their local context.
The R/KYV system is expected to underpin much of the County Council's programme of service transformation. Dave Carr, ICT Manager for Children and Young People and Information Management, will outline how the County Council developed the business case for procurement and implementation of the R/KYV system and how the system is beginning to help bring about positive change.
Many aspects of the Council's aim to improve services and enable organisational change are underpinned by the need to improve our management of information. R/KYV has the potential to provide some of the underlying technology for initiatives such as the implementation of the Electronic Social Care Record, Property Asset Rationalisation, Customer Access and Postal Reviews.
