Kirsten Ferguson-Boucher, Aberystwyth University

Kirsten Ferguson-Boucher

Kirsten Ferguson-Boucher lecturers in Records Management at Aberystwyth University, both taught courses and the distance learning modules. She read Classics at Edinburgh (1988) and has Post Graduate qualifications in Leisure Policy and Practice from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and RM from Aberystwyth University. Before moving into the academic sphere, she was Managing Director of a manufacturing SME in the Scottish Borders and Assistant Director of a national disability charity in Scotland, where she also spent two years as Research and Information Manager. She started life in the public sector in the Registers of Scotland as an Executive Officer, working both in the Sasine Registers and also the Books of Council and Session.

Her research interests include RM theory and the convergence between related disciplines in terms of goals and mechanisms for achieving them. Governance, risk, compliance and information assurance (particularly digital forensics, which formed the topic of her RM dissertation), are specific areas of interest. Kirsten recently gave a paper at University of Washington, Seattle, at an event entitled Where Information Technology, Law and Risk Management Converge, focusing on data governance, and the integration of electronic evidence management policies and procedures into data governance programs.
