Alison North, The Genuine Group
Alison North is the author of the book ‘Managing Records Retention and Disposal’ and an authority on the implementation of records management programmes to improve business efficiency, promote transparency and achieve compliance. Alison has worked extensively as a consultant in both the public and private sector. She became an independent consultant in 1986 leading to the establishing of the Genuine Group where she is MD. From 1972 to 1986 Alison gained her experience with the petroleum exploration and production business. Her work covered the development and management of offshore information centres on the oil production platforms in the North Sea. She was the first women to work offshore as an information specialist in 1977. Alison has been a member of the Records Management Society (RMS) in the UK and ARMA in the USA since the 1980s. She has been Executive Treasurer of the RMS since 2004 a post from which she is retiring in March 2010. She is a passionate public speaker on all records management related issues.
