Chris Head, Socitm

Chris is the managing consultant at CHH Consultancy Ltd, an information and technology consultancy specialising in the public sector. Chris is also a Principal Associate of Socitm Insight, the research arm of the professional society for public sector ICT managers, a Visiting Fellow at Henley Business School, University of Reading, and an Honorary Fellow at Kingston University. Chris is a frequent speaker at information technology conferences, presenting papers on information management, ICT strategy, flexible working and technology-related sustainability issues. He represents local government on the central government Green ICT Delivery Unit. Chris has written over 30 books and detailed reports, chiefly concerned with his primary interest: the transition from the industrial age to ‘digital literacy’, including exploiting the intrinsic value of the information assets that organisations hold, and the risks organisations face from perpetuating industrial age thinking at senior management level. He is currently writing a report on information management for non-information specialists in the public sector. Chris specialises in public sector economics and technology, particularly the strategic approaches to exploit the opportunities that technologies present if organisations unlock imagination and innovation. At Henley, he won the joint Harvard Business School/Cranfield University award in 2002 for his paper on systems development at the London Stock Exchange. As a pro bono activity, Chris helps to run Socitm’s annual conference for public sector ICT managers.
